Individuals typically begin between the minimum to middle of the pay range The Multimedia Communications Specialist is a dynamic and creative individual who knows how to effectively use words and visuals to tell engaging, dynamic stories.
This person will be able to weave copy, sound bites and video b-roll together into masterful creative content that resonates with the intended audience across multiple digital channels in a variety of formats.
This person will also take a leading role of HMSA's social media efforts, including creating and posting content that forwards HMSA's purpose, goals, brand and overall messaging.
In this hybrid role, the employee will use strong writing, editing, and social media savvy, combined with a strong background in video production and interactive design principles to create stories that share HMSA's vision, activities and work being done to foster a healthier Hawaii.
This position will work closely with digital newsroom, web and design teams to create educational, entertaining and engaging content via videos and digital assets for web, social media and other digital channels.
Exempt or Non-Exempt Exempt Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Experience operating video cameras, tripods, lights and other equipment in a professional manner.
Experience with writing for print, broadcast, and online content.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
Familiarity with social media tools.
Experience creating and editing photos and videos using a software on a personal Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience with video editing software, such as Apple's Final Cut Pro or equivalent software.
Must have valid driver's license, access to an automobile with current license, registration and no-fault insurance.
Duties and Responsibilities Creates original content that engages our target audience and supports HMSA's business goals and objectives:
Researches, produces, writes, shoots, and edits in-house videos and livestreams.
Writes clear and compelling stories in HMSA's brand voice.
Writes effective digital headlines and summaries that help attract audiences.
Creates engaging social media posts that attract audiences and encourage readers to interact with HMSA.
Creates and develops content for digital platforms, including but not limited to web, social media, HMSA's blog, email and text messaging, that informs, educates and inspires.
Uses the best tool (e.
g.
, written, design, infographics, video, etc.
) to tell the story in a way that connects with the target audience and is appropriate for the vehicle.
Creates news and event-based content impacting all stakeholders, including text stories, photos/graphics, live streaming content, and social media elements.
Participates with teams internally and externally in the creation and distribution of content.
Works as or with another videographer/editor to gather video assets, (i.
e.
, conducts on-camera interviews with stakeholders with an ear toward eliciting compelling sound bites, identifies and directs videographers to shoot needed b-roll footage, and conceive graphics).
Takes and edits photos and videos to create their own stories, and provides layout/design direction, as needed, to tell the story.
Provides packaging and presentation across all platforms, including mobile and other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter).
Works along with other video editors to fine tune and optimize videos from pre-production to delivery.
Works closely with the video, web, and design teams to ensure design principles and brand elements are effectively translated into social media and/or digital assets.
Works collaboratively with communications brand, social media, design, and digital counterparts to help conceptualize and produce engaging digital content for HMSA channels.
Manages production schedule and timelines:
Helps maintain production calendar for all projects and provides regular status updates to management.
Schedules and posts assets to social media sites, such as Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
, and assists with coordinating social livestream events.
Becomes a subject matter expert on HMSA digital platforms and applies that expertise to expand reach, engagement, and distribution of content.
Helps create and maintain content plans for specific events, campaigns, and corporate priorities.
Tracks production schedules and assets, ensuring that established deadlines are met.
Actively communicates with teammates and managers.
Maintains proficiency and knowledge in latest trends, technology, and best practices for digital video content.
Maintains proficiency and knowledge in latest trends and best practices for digital video content production and distribution on YouTube and other digital platforms.
Research, strategy, and analysis Stays abreast of new video, social media, and e-commerce developments and researches best-in-class examples.
Analyzes engagement on social media platforms and provides direction for optimizing content and videos.
Monitors real-time digital and social analytics across internal and external platforms.
Provides recommendations based on analysis.
Assists with the development and maintenance year-over-year of a video content strategy that ensures HMSA is using current best video practices available and growing its audience on YouTube and other video platforms.
Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
