The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the growth of our in Honolulu team and contribute to business development efforts in the region.
The ideal candidate will be able to combine high-level technical expertise with superior business development acumen and leadership and have significant prior experience in the environmental consulting field, including planning, design, and implementation of projects in terrestrial and aquatic environments, wetland delineation, biological resource inventories and special status species surveys, multi-agency resource permitting, environmental impact analyses (HRS 343/NEPA).
This is a full-time, salaried position based in Honolulu.
Reporting to the Honolulu director, you will serve as a senior-level project manager and business development leader, working with our local team, peers across the company, and corporate leaders to identify the best opportunities for SWCA in the Pacific Islands.
You will meet with agencies and clients, both existing and prospects, and inform them about SWCA's range of services and increase our business profile.
Projects brought in or led by you will benefit from your quality control expertise and direct management, where warranted.
You will manage complex projects from pursuit, capture, and initiation, through implementation in collaboration with the local and regional natural resources team.
What you will accomplishBusiness Development Lead business development efforts to foster growth of the Pacific Islands office and support proposal efforts in conjunction with the Southern California- Pacific Islands operational team.
Supervise and mentor natural resources experts in Hawaii in working on local, regional, and national projects and pursuits Foster new client relationships and strengthen existing client relationships and conduct ongoing business development with clients.
Lead the development of both proposals and presentations, and development of client relationships to increase the flow of viable opportunities to the Honolulu officeLead and contribute to business development efforts in the Hawaiian Islands, including client outreach, opportunity tracking, attendance at pre-bid meetings, preparation of proposals, and conducting interviews and presentations.
Identify and evaluate changing market conditions and strategic sales opportunities (new clients and geographies).
Lead proposal efforts and internal business development groups and take a lead role in the go/no go decisions.
Develop deep and productive relationships within industry organizations and with agency staff to expand the regional client base, in line with the region's strategic goals.
Project execution:
Win, lead, plan, and manage multi-objective documents prepared for a variety of projects and environmental compliance projects throughout the region.
Maintain focus on quality deliverables and ensure implementation of stringent QA/QC processes to ensure our work is of the highest quality and defensibilityManage complex planning, permitting, design and implementation of natural resources projectsKeep projects on schedule and on budget and work with the local operational director to develop opportunities, business plans, business development targets, and sales goals on a regular basis.
Experience and qualifications for successA minimum of an Bachelor's Degree in biology, ecology, or related degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
At least 10 years of progressive experience in the environmental consulting and natural resources field with a business development componentPrior Relationships with relevant Hawaii agencies and clients and proven business development acumenProven ability to identify opportunities and develop, lead, and implement pursuits.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality written reports and verbal presentationsExtensive experience implementing federal and state laws (e.
g.
, HRS 343, NEPA, CWA, and ESA) governing natural resource managementAbility to work independently and with staff, Project Managers, and Directors in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes; to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
Prior experience leading and supporting the development of proposals and leading and participating in proposal interviewsPrior successful experience supervising and mentoring staff to assist the overall team in professional development goals and growth.

Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
