Responsibilities: Sets up serving counters by sorting and stacking such items as dishes and glasses and arranging silverware; arranges salads, desserts, cold beverages, etc., as instructed; stocks condiment stands, self-service milk and ice cream cabinets, and hot and cold drink dispensers. - Removes soiled dishes from tables and carries to kitchen either by tray or hand cart; scrapes dishes; washes, sterilizes and dries flatware, glassware, dishes and cooking utensils by hand or by machine. - Washes, cuts, scrapes, chops, dices, and peels raw fruits and vegetables for cooking. - Cleans, scrubs, wipes and/or washes tables, counters and other service equipment such as work tables and refrigerators; sweeps and mop floors. - Adheres to Navy Exchange Customer Service standards by maintaining a neat, clean appearance and wearing appropriate uniform/name tag, as required. Exercises tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers; suggests substitutes when items are not available; and informs customers of specials. Provides service in a prompt and friendly manner; ensuring that the food items are presented in an attractive and appetizing way. Furnishes each customer with a register receipt and thanks the customer for their patronage. - Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Work is performed accordance with prescribed procedures and instructions; and is reviewed by observation for proper performance and compliance with instructions. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Associate frequently lifts or moves carts of dirty dishes weighing up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 45 pounds; is required to constantly stand and walk in accomplishing work. WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbent works in areas which are uncomfortably warm, damp, and noisy; floors may be wet and slippery. Is subject to minor cuts, bruises and burns. - Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: No experience is required; High School graduate or equivalent is preferred. Physical requirements: Required to frequently lift or move carts of dirty dishes weighing up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 45 pounds; is required to constantly stand and walk to accomplish work.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
