Inspect spaces and locations on board vessels primarily for hot work operations and certifying those locations prior to the start of hot work. Preforms safety inspections of vessels and hot work locations throughout the day to ensure and maintaining compliance with housekeeping and fire prevention requirements. Perform duties as a ship yard competent person when required. Included in these duties is the review of gas free work scopes, hot work notices, documenting, tracking and posting approved hot work notices
Required Skills and Education
Required education: High School/GED
1 - 3 months of related experience preferred but not required
Certified ShipYard Competent Person a plus (training available)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
Valid Drivers licence
Able to acquire and maintain Rapidgate
Physically demanding positions including but not limited to the touring of a variety of sea going vessels and the loctions within the vessel, piers, docks, buildings, etc. Demands include climbing, crawling, working in tight enclosed and confined spaces in a variety of environments and conditions.
Able to speak, read and understand English and interpret the directions of a Marine Chemist.
