This position serves as a Program Specialist within VHA National Teleradiology Program (NTP) within the Office of the Chief of Staff for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and is located at the primary reading center at the VA Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Major duties of the position may include (but are not be limited to):
Providing guidance, instruction, maintenance and troubleshooting services in the day-to-day operation of the Teleradiology system;
Providing administrative and technical support to increase the efficiencies of reading teleradiologists working in the National Teleradiology Program (NTP) reading centers by preparing and organizing case studies sent digitally from remote sites;
Ensuring case completeness, including prior exam information; and
Advising and assisting remote radiologic technologists at of VA facility locations in the preparation and transmission of images.
Work Schedule: This position offers a compressed tour of four 10-hour shifts. Exact hours will be discussed at hiring.
SPECIALIZED
Experience:
GS-9: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Program Specialist, GS-9 position and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service.
Examples of specialized experience include:Utilizing and working knowledge of imaging equipment such as MRIs, CTs and digital X-ray devices; Demonstrating practical knowledge of the principles of image acquisition, transmission, storage and report dictation of radiology department operations.
NOTE: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation on your resume or OF-612. Also provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish one (1) full year of Specialized Experience.
NOTE: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR
Experience:
AMaster's or equivalent graduate degree _-or-_ two (2) full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree _-or-_ an LL.B. or J.D., if related, are fully qualifying at the GS-9 grade level.
One (1) year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. This graduate education must have provided you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the work of the Staff Assistant GS-7 position. (Transcripts required.)

A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above.

5) Ability to communicate in person and in writing with clinical staff and customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work of this position is generally sedentary, although there may be some nominal walking or standing for short periods of time or carrying of light loads of papers, books, reports and the like which requires only moderate physical ability and physical stress. You will be require to assist in the configuration and set-up ofPicture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) workstations and monitors and prepare hardware for shipping when replacement is required.
The work involves common risks or discomforts, requiring normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting rooms, libraries and the like. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Employees in or adjacent to computer rooms may be within environmentally controlled areas and, although relatively cool, require only normal clothing to compensate for minor discomforts.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
