Foodland is seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual with previous managerial experience in the food retail industry, to join our team as Merchandise & Inventory Planner.
This position is responsible for merchandise and inventory planning for the deli and bakery departments.
The position will require a thorough understanding of sales, gross margin, cost of goods, freight, distribution, process, and procedures as it applies to the department's operation and profitability, with a demonstrated ability to impact each area effectively and positively on a timely basis.
Must be highly analytical and comfortable in excel.
Excellent communicator, able to work independently with minimal supervision and is a team player.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Execute appropriate distribution of products to stores to maximize store turns and profitability Analyze store level data to identify chain/region/store level trends and recommend/implement changes and action as appropriate Execute category/sub-category trends and identify specific merchandise needs and product gaps Execute seasonal distributions in accordance with direction provided by sales & merchandising team Responsible for managing items on the Excess Inventory and Aged reports (slower moving items - identify and collaborate with buyer/category manager, action as appropriate) Responsible for managing those items approaching expiration in the warehouse Responsible for coming up with suggested store order quantities for all Deli and Bakery items Own cross-functional communication regarding product sales, inventory position, and distributions for all stores Build, develop, and maintain effective and productive working relationships within cross-functional team (District Managers, Store Directors, Purchasing Department, Stores, Distribution Center, etc.
) Communicates programs and initiatives with stores, vendors, and other departments Reviews, analyzes published weekly reports by the company, identifies and corrects deficiencies as it relates to sales, gross margins, all processes, and procedures including but not limited to ordering, replenishment, receiving, merchandising, product stocking and rotation, pricing, authorized product selection, signage and promotions Completes required/requested reports in an accurate and timely manner Job Requirements:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience Can successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously Can make solid decisions quickly based on limited information Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form Intermediate experience with Excel required Minimum of 3 years of perishable food experience in same or similar capacity preferred 2 years of knowledge of retail deli and bakery experience is preferred Ability to work independently, as well as with a team Concern for achieving positive outcomes and growing the business; willing to get involved in all aspects of the process Ability to be creative, resourceful and take ownership over your categories Must be willing to travel To apply, please submit your resume to this posting.
