LEGAL ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) with Security Clearance

Dutieso Prepare, review, and process administrative discharges and provides administrative support to discharge boards.
o Maintain adverse action docket, to include administrative involuntary board-entitled and non-board-entitled discharges.
o Provide training to paralegals and newly assigned personnel.
o Provide assistance to the legal assistance program as needed in support of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.

Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systemsExamples of specialized experience include:
(1) Processing complex legal support assignments in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, legal rules and organizational procedures; (2) assisting legal staff in identifying and/or locating precedent cases, legal citations and statutory references; (3) performing administrative support tasks such as records management, preparing correspondence, assembling information to generate reports and /or legal documents, etcFEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
o Knowledge of rules, procedures, policies, and programs of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate to perform the procedural and administrative work of the organization such as preparing and editing legal documents and administrative correspondence, maintaining files, and records, and assembling information for various legal documents and reports; knowledge of legal services and terminology in the area of claims, civil law, military Justice, legal assistance, discharge and demotion actions, and legal research techniques; and knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and required legal formats and directives regarding preparation of written communications to produce legal and administrative documents and communications.
o Knowledge of office functions to screen telephonecalls and visitors, prepare and review correspondence, and perform other administrative work as required.
o Knowledge of various office automationsoftware programs, tools, and techniques to support office-operations and produce a variety of documents such as letter, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
o Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
o Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to advise commanders and supervisors of appropriate legal actions.
o Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and procedural requirements to process unusually difficult and complicated transactions; ability to utilize a military legal library and computer resources to perform appropriate researchPART-TIME OR UNPAID
