POSITION TITLE: Business Development Analyst
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Business Development Analyst will maximize the sales of supplier brands to the trade and the consumer through effective chain planning, selling, merchandising and communicating to achieve company and supplier objectives.
This position will use analytical ability to define, develop and propose solutions for complex business issues and put into a usable format for the team to use with the customer.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop well-planned and organized presentations, including industry information, cross-merchandising ideas and data on in-store problems and conditions.
Close distribution gaps in chains that utilize direct shipment and the ability to discontinue competitive products.
Prepare and conduct presentations for shelf placement and improvement; secure and improve shelf positions of all Young's Market Company products.
Assist the chain stores in merchandising their shelves to obtain maximum profit and sales potential.
Ensure full distribution of Young's Market Company products.
Identify opportunities for shelf changes to chain schematics to strategically expand the spread and improve shelving/display position of all Young's Market Company products.
Analyze current schematics and recognize opportunities and develop proposals for improving schematics.
Maintain Young's Market Company priorities in the cold box, as well as maintain an equal or greater share of the cold box versus competition.
Solve problems efficiently and effectively with proper communication to all responsible parties.
Take input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately apply comments/feedback.
Anticipate potential problems and provide follow-up information to necessary parties.
Push creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsets.
Assist Key Account Specialists with business development management projects.
Coordinate and help implement seminars when needed.
Demonstrate flexibility and resiliency when dealing with issues as they arise
Help to improve relationships at store level between Young's Market Company and store personnel.
Understand the concepts of category management and be able to effectively utilize the principles as they pertain to the assigned account.
Assist chain stores in organizing and reorganizing of their departments.
Work any resets for the assigned chain account(s).
Update layouts and recap objectives.
Maintain current records of merchandising program activities and in-store conditions in all departments of the stores within the chains assigned.
Develop a detailed weekly schedule with a concise and accurate status report on completed tasks and pending tasks.
Maintain reset recaps and turn in all paperwork in a timely manner.
Adhere to policies and procedures; follow all rules and regulations established by Young's Market Company of Hawaii.
Possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of current schematics for assigned chain account(s).
Show a sincere commitment and integrity to Young's Market Company and loyalty to the brands that Young's Market Company offers.
Maintain confidentiality when working on information-sensitive projects.
Maintain professional image and attire for Young's Market Company.
Demonstrate a professional and confident presence as a representative of Young's Market Company.
Make consistent, timely and productive sales/business development calls.

Possess a firm understanding of the wine and spirits industry, Young's Market Company products, the Chain sales environment, and category management concepts and the ability to effectively utilize the principles to anticipate and interpret management and customer needs.
Complete knowledge of product types, sizes, product and category sales information.
Appropriate understanding of product-brand-supplier alignment.
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four year college or university.
2 to 3 years of experience in sales and/or marketing role; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Experience with JDA Space Planning and Nielsen software applications is preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position will require the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. This position will require the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and assemble effective business presentations. This position will also require the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position will require the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. This position will also require the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: This position will require the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. This position will also require the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in ever changing situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess valid driver's license, reliable vehicle and clean DMV record.
SKILLS/ABILITIES :
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Windows (Excel, PowerPoint and Word), AS400, Diver & TM1 environments.
Proficient in syndicated data, (IRI, ACNielsen) preferred.
Ability to write Macros, import and export data to Excel and other outside data sources.
Knowledge of and ability to coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling organization's products and services.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize customer profile and information.
Ability to work and communicate with management, colleagues and customers throughout the business and industry at every level
Candidate would need to be very organized, strong listener; detail oriented, and takes direction/feedback well.
Complete knowledge of types and sizes, pricing, product sales information, competitive products and associated sales information.
Ability to recognize the attributes of a product for the purpose of categorization and develop effective presentations.
Proficient in all aspects of the sales presentation process.
Able to overcome objections and handle retailer reactions during sales situations in a professional manner. Ability to sell concepts as well as products by utilizing multiple methods including but not limited to profit sheets, or other persuasive audio/visual aids.
Ability to determine and implement proper placement of new items in a timely manner per Young's Market Company standards.
Ability to multi-task in a fast environment; and demonstrate analytical skills to interpret financial/market data and prepare reports
Ability to work productively under stress and meet deadlines.
Creativity, problem solving and project management skills are essential in this role.
Excellent follow through skills are required.
Ability to access and interpret ROI and Nielsen, IRI, and chain specific information where available.
