Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala''s 88-bed facility is Hawaii''s only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.
Position
Summary:
The Unit Clerk/MHS provides reception and clerical support to ensure the smooth, continuous flow of information and paperwork between the unit and other hospital departments and outside agencies. The incumbent provides assistance to guests, and performs other duties as assigned. NOTE: The Unit Clerk/MHS works Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM OR 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM based upon unit needs. The Unit Clerk role models AIDET (customer service) both in person and on the telephone. Phones are answered promptly by the 3rdring. Assists in keeping Medical Records organized and clerical supplies and forms stocked. Ensures most current forms are available and that old forms are purged. Maintains scheduling of treatment teams and Family Sessions. Maintains tracking system for legal documents. Assists nurses and physicians in obtaining consents and faxing information. Assists in the scheduling of outside patient appointments and works with staffing on transportation needs. Distributes information among unit staff as requested by DON, Nurse Manager, or Charge RN via mailboxes or email. Picks up and delivers patient mail. Scans documents for archiving as requested. Assists RN in posting information to the Kardex as requested. Transcribes medication orders only if trained and certified to do so. Assists in keeping the work area (Nurse's Station) clean and well organized. May be required to assist with MHS duties or patient transportation but not on a routine basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
The Unit Clerk/MHS reports to the Nurse Manager, as does the RN and MHS. The incumbent receives functional supervision from the Charge Nurse on Unit working.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred. Completion of medical terminology course or other courses relevant to clerical functions preferred.
Experience:
Prior hospital unit clerk experience preferred. Will consider applicant with prior medical receptionist or comparable experience.
Knowledge:
Medical terminology preferred and general office procedures required.
Special Skills/Equipment:
Good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills; strong computer skills with word processing at 40 wpm. Proficient in spreadsheets and Outlook calendar. Valid Hawaii Driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements:
Must meet basic health requirements of Kahi Mohala physical examination including TB skin test or chest x-ray. Must obtain and be able to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
