Position Description:
Trace Systems is actively recruiting for a Cable Technician to work out of Oahu, Hawaii. Cable Technicians will provide installation and maintenance support for testing various encrypted circuits with a data transmission range of 64K to OC-192 in accordance with contract requirements.
Other duties include:
Installing network monitoring equipment in accordance with standard industry commercial practices and procedures.
Coordinate with lease line vendors and other stakeholders as required for scheduling, activation, and cutover of operational circuits to the network monitoring subsystems in accordance to the timelines attached to this statement of work.
Performing end-to-end acceptance testing of circuit leases with data rates including Fractional T-1 through OC-192 as required.
Providing Request Fulfillment and maintenance/
repair
capabilities in support of applicable DISN infrastructure to include, but is not limited to the following capabilities:
Supporting the fault isolation process. This includes the diagnoses and troubleshooting procedures to isolate where the fault occurs, and to identify the failed network element(s) i.e. systems, hardware, software, circuits, or facilities. Activities include: testing, fault troubleshooting, fault localization, fault logging and assignment, fault escalation, customer coordination and communications, and ticket system updates & status reporting.Note:fault analysis and isolation shall extend to customer/contractor or third-party provider equipment which is located within a DISA-provided GIG
services
site and/or attached to DISN capabilities, to enable the customer or provider who is responsible for the equipment to restore it to proper service.
Restoring networks and service to full operation, coordinating with other service providers as necessary to meet the DISN Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Correct/replace faulty network elements, coordinating with other service providers as necessary.
Organizing and directing network installations on site surveys.
Assessing and documenting current site network configuration and user requirements.
Designing and optimizing network topologies.
Directing and leading preparation of engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages.
Developing installation schedules.
Mobilizing network installation team.
Directing and leading preparation of drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
Preparing site installation and test reports.
Coordinating post installation operations and maintenance support.
Monitoring, controlling, and isolating problems in a data communications network.
Monitoring all network activity. Activates/deactivates network lines according to established schedules. May perform first- and/or second-level problem determination first level is help desk.
Interfacing with users and/or network vendors.
Candidate is familiar performing within a fixed price, performance-based environment where performance is based on pre-determined Service Level Agreement's (SLA's) or Acceptable Levels of Performance (ALP's). Performs detailed and technically in-depth site survey functions at user locations as required in order to assess/analyze site preparedness, develop implementation plans and associated cost estimates.
Coordinating with users, site/base support and or facilities personnel, network manager(s) and controllers, long haul and local carriers for installation, cutover, activation, deactivation planning and execution.
Performing installation/de-installation/upgrade/interface actions associated with network components at user locations. Facilitates and finalizes all aspects of site acceptance.
Providing functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training and quality assurance/quality control to Associate and Intermediate personnel.
Supporting senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met.
Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls.
Basic
Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience with fiber and copper cabling, ability to splice both mediums. Ability to manufacture, crimp, splice, troubleshoot, and test a variety of cables.
Experience troubleshooting circuits from fractional T1's up to OC-192's using various types of test equipment.
Experience reviewing and preparing documentation for systems, tests and installation of software.
Experience utilizing OTDR and OSA test equipment to troubleshoot/analyze long haul fiber and DWDM circuit outages.
Must be experienced with major vendors, ie. Sycamore, Ciena, Juniper, Promina, Cisco
Experience initiating preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repairing system/environment problems.
Must be able to set up and maintain the following devices/vendors: CISCO, Juniper, Promina, Safenet, Ciena, Sycamore, Ericsson and analyzes system faults and troubleshoot and run diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.
Must have the ability to Identify, troubleshoot and resolve problematic and crisis-level malfunctions in order to maintain customer supported services and products to ensure compliance with DISA requirements.
Must have experience with the installation and maintenance on DISA's IP based (classified/unclassified) LAN/WAN, SONET and ATM networks whether it be hardware or software upgrades/fixes, on routers, switches, long haul transport, servers, cryptographic systems and other IT equipment.
Must be able to plan, evaluate, and determine current and future use of IT equipment, methods of upgrading equipment, and needs for new equipment, including the acquisition of new equipment.
Must be able to assist DISA and other end users in troubleshooting and recovering systems and files; installing operating systems, network systems, applications, and testing head to head running BERT tests across the path, checking framing, line coding, protocols, ATM cell traffic, Sonet, and IP.
Experience performing detailed and technically in-depth site survey functions at user locations as required in order to assess/analyze site preparedness, develop implementation plans and associated cost estimates.
Experience coordinating with users, site/base support and or facilities personnel, network manager(s) and controllers, long haul and local carriers for installation, cutover, activation, deactivation planning and execution.

Active DoD Secret Clearance

Qualifications:
BICSI or other cable splicing technician training preferred
Network
and/or Security
preferred.
Preferred for some experience in one or more of the following: IP routing, QoS, traffic engineering, DNS; ATM switching; TDM switching; Optical; Crypto; Network appliances (WAN acceleration, etc)
EOE, M/F/D/VEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
